Training for the visually impaired

The aim of these sessions is to train the visually impaired or blind in the use of modern office software and hardware in tandem with specific assistive technology applications. We train on standard software for office automation, linking this training to specific computer tools (software interfaces of the Braille track type or speech synthesis, for example). The overall goal is immersion and compentences sufficient for integration into the workforce.

Training for the visually impaired is destined for two very different audiences: the visually impaired and the totally blind.

However, the style of training is very different depending on the subjects involved:

  • The visually impaired need to accentuate cirtain aspects of a visual display by modifying and regulating their view of the screen, at the same time perhaps liasing with a vocal recognition interface.
  • The blind will prefer to simplify the information as much as possible, divesting it of all visual content (images) in order only to be presented with text (including textual descriptions of stripped images, etc). Here, the accent would be on the use of vocal recognition tools, use of a Braille track, etc.
